My group, Thomas, Jillian, and I were tasked with building a "Rube Goldberg" project which is a complex machine that is made to make the simplest task; like moving a pencil, as complex as we can make it with the materials we have access to. We also needed to incorporate at least 5 simple machines into the project.
The machine began by rolling a chrome marble down an inclined plane. It would then hit a lever, pushing a tennis ball which would roll down another inclined plane and push a bucket off the plane. The bucket would fall and the tennis ball would fall in and activate a pulley system , removing a wedge from a screw an releasing another group of chrome marbles down that screw, into another, then hitting another golf ball which would push another ball rolling into a bucket. Then activating another pulley system releasing one more chrome marble which would roll down one final inclined plane. The ball would then push a bit of wood holding a picture of a farmer with the picture from my 8th Grade ID card. I visited a farm that day!
